Next Wednesday, I won’t be eating at Chick-Fil-A. I’m boycotting the place.
My decision to boycott CFA has nothing to do with the CFO’s statements about same-sex marriage. I’m actually not in favor of same-sex marriage either, so of course I wouldn’t be boycotting for that reason.
Here’s why I won’t be eating at Chick-Fil-A next Wednesday. With all the people who plan to eat there in support of CFA’s stance, and all the other people who plan to show up in opposition to CFA’s stance, it’s just going to be too darn crowded there. The place is already busy enough, and as much as I like their food, I’d rather go another day and just skip Wednesday entirely. So I guess you could say that since I’m not going to CFA Wednesday, on purpose, that’s kind of a boycott. Which is a new thing for me, since I normally think these little boycotts are childish and silly.
Oh just something to consider… if you’re going to have opinions about controversial things, one way or the other, then be secure enough to not freak out if someone voices a different opinion than yours. It’s probably nothing personal. It’s just that on an issue like same-sex marriage, with the country divided approximately in half over it, a lot of people are going to disagree with whatever view you have. But cheer up – a lot of other people are likely on your side. That’s just the way it is; a boycott likely won’t change anything.
Anyway, I’ll be boycotting Chick-Fil-A on Wednesday. However, I might go on Thursday, so if anyone needs me to pick up a chicken sandwich or something for them that day, let me know.
