It’s always a huge red flag for me when someone says “God told me,” or “I feel God is directing me to…”, etc. My experience – and it’s been a lot of experience – is that in most cases when people use those expressions, it’s to add strength to their own ideas.
In other words, what they’re saying is, “I think we should …,” and then to add a little extra pzazz to their idea, it gets reinforced with a “God said.” Implied… if I say God told me this thing, then it has to be right and you have to listen to me.
I’m not saying God doesn’t direct people or communicate with us. But that’s another other topic for another time. I’ll have to wait until I feel God leading me to write about that.
