HA! Clever title, yeah?
I have three more days of World History class, and then it’s over. This is by far one of the most difficult classes I’ve ever taken anywhere, anytime. Not that World History isn’t interesting, because it is, but oh my gosh, the work has been tough. This is equivalent to a course they used to teach at my first college, 1000 years ago, where they covered this material in depth in two semesters. We’re skimming through it in six weeks.
The instructor seems to know a lot about various kinds of history, which I guess is important if you’re going to teach it. He teaches courses in U.S. History, World History, Chinese History, and also World Religions. The guy has a lot in his brain. He’s also kind of annoying, taking every chance he can to be condescending about the U.S. and its place in world history.
Not that I’m uber-patriotic or anything… I’m appropriately thankful to be here, and I’m supportive of the U.S. But I’m also fair-minded and reasonable and I realize we’re not perfect. But really – the condescending attitude from this guy is getting a little old.
And that is coming from me, a guy who knows a thing or two about condescending, sarcastic attitudes. Hey, maybe I can get a job at a college teaching a required general ed course in condescension and sarcasm!
“Hey, maybe I can get a job at a college teaching a required general ed course in condescension and sarcasm!”
I was BORN for that job!

Cool. You take care of the east coast, and I’ll get the left coast.
