As I sit here in Starbucks on Sunday morning, getting ready for my massive workload this week, I can’t help but notice a display of whole bean coffee. I can’t help but notice it, because it’s about 3 feet from my table.
The various bags of coffee are separated into categories, based on how strong the blend is. Now, someone like me would just call them –
- Weak
- Not Quite as Weak
- Average
- Stronger Than Average
- Guaranteed to Grow Extra Parts On Your Body
Starbucks, however, has categorized the coffee thusly:
- Familiar & Friendly
- Extraordinary & Enticing
- Adventurous & Assertive
- Interesting & Complex
- Sturdy & Powerful
Come on people – it’s just coffee.
You can’t expect a chain that can’t say, “Small, medium or large” to come up with a simple categorization for coffee, though, can you?
