As we normally do on Sunday nights, the Lovely Miss Courtney and I once again made the journey tonight to Mosaic, our church. I guess we’ve been going there long enough now that we can call it “our church.”
Mosaic meets in several locations throughout the LA area, normally with the same guy teaching each place. We go to the gathering at the Mayan Theater, which is a club/theater in a sleazy area on Hill St in the downtown LA area. Being on Hill St in the downtown area, it’s not uncommon to see a mixture of old rundown buildings alongside of new hip buildings. It’s also not uncommon to see old rundown people next to new hip people.
But our “special guest” tonight was neither an old rundown person nor a new hip person. It was a rat. The biggest rat I’ve ever seen was running across Hill St at the same time Courtney and I were running across Hill St, and it was headed straight for the entrance to the Mayan at the same time Courtney and I were headed straight for the entrance to the Mayan.
Fortunately, Mosaic has about 134 greeters hanging outside the entrance, and two of the guys were on it immediately:
Guy #1: Dude! Where did it go?
Guy #2: It went under that car man! That possum was huge!
Cute Girl Greeter Standing Right By the Door to Welcome People In: That wasn’t a possum you guys, it was a RAT! Hi, welcome to Mosaic!
I have a great fear of rodents. Please go to church with one of those big exterminator hammers and a top hat next time in case there are more and you can smash them.
