Figuring Out Sundays

For the past 49 years, I’ve been busy on Sundays, except for those rare occasions on vacation or something. And when I say “busy on Sundays,” that’s a euphemism for “doing church stuff.”

Now, that’s no longer the case. A little over three years ago, I left the pastor stuff, with the hope/plan to return “someday.” However, I had to keep busy so I immediately got involved in another church playing keyboards with their band. Then I got a church music position for two 1/2 years. As of two weeks ago, that ended.

However, last week, I still got up early and went to church. Not that going to church is a bad thing, it was sort of just done without thinking.

This week, meaning tomorrow, I’m going to sleep a little later, then I’m going to go to a local coffee place and get some work done for some projects I have coming up. Then not wanting to be a pagan, I’ll go to church tomorrow night.

Now to some people, this may seem like I’m really overthinking the whole church thing. Hopefully at some point, it’ll seem that way to me too. But for now, the idea of not having to be someplace early on Sunday mornings is at the same time liberating and frightening.

Hopefully, good coffee by the beach tomorrow morning will help fix me.

Hope you had a peaceful, wonderful, even if not routine Sunday morning. Overthinking isn’t such a bad thing, although I’d sure like to learn to be guiltier of “over-praying!” 😉 Thank God for His meeting us right where we are…whether it’s in the comfy pews of a church or a cool, coffee place right by the beach. Love ya my Brutha! XO
