In today’s post, I’ll refrain from topics that I could easily make fun of (and have been making fun of). Instead, I just want to say how thankful I am for some good news I heard today.

A good friend, Sheryl Paige, was diagnosed with cancer a year ago. After some pretty difficult treatment and all that goes with it, Sheryl was pronounced cancer free today. She goes for her next checkup in six months.

For those readers who knew of Sheryl as Sheryl Olguin – she is still happily married to Leon Olguin, but now uses the last name Paige as her professional/performance name. She is a busy singer/songwriter in the Central Florida area.

Sheryl, her husband Leon, and daughter Rose are among my favorite people. I’ve known Sheryl since 1980 (which, by my machine-like calculations, is more than five years).  I’ve known her husband a bit longer, having gone to college with him. So much for the history.

These are two incredibly gifted, amazing people, and I couldn’t be happier for them today.
